The web site of my local area interest that I chose to review is the official City of St. Pete Beach site. I chose the site because I live near, and try to frequent as often as possibly, St. Pete Beach. Ifocused mainly on the "Visitors Guide" section since SPB is well known as a tourist destination. As I went through the "official" site I must say that there are a few things to be desired.
You can definitly tell that the site has around for a while and hasn't changed very much at all. As I scrolled through the source code I noticed an abundance of depricated tags, capitalized tags, and Javascript heavy drop-down menus. The color scheme was a little off as well. When you think of St Pete Beach you think sunny and cheerful; for some reason gray and pink doesn't bring those feelings out of me.
If I had two words to describe the site it would be "old" and "tacky." Well, lets just hope that this means they put all of those tax dollars to better us.
